* FOREIGNERS SECURITY

A. RESIDENTIAL SECURITY
  1. Make sure that you lock your doors and windows before departing your residence. If you have an alarm system, use it.
  2. Consider using timers for your lights and/or a radio when no one is home to give the impression your residence is occupied.
  3. If you are going to be away from your home on vacation, notify the police. Your local police station will provide additional patrol service while you are away.
  4. Never let strangers into your home, Know who is at your door before opening it.
  5. Be a good neighbor. Watch out for your neighbors home and ask them to watch yours. If you notice a suspicious car or stranger near your neighbor's home contact the police immediately. If you neighborhood has a "Neighborhood watch Program", make the most of it.
  6. Make sure yor have an inventory of your valuable. If possible keep expensive jewelery and large sums of cash in a bank safety deposit box rather than at your home.
B. PERSONAL SECURITY
  1. Avoid Ostentatious displays of money or jewelry. These items provide tempting targets for criminals.
  2. When parking your car try to park in a well traveled area and at night in a well light area.
  3. When possible, avoid lonely streets and dark alleyways where you would be unable to get help if a problem arises.
  4. Indentify where local Police stations and hospitals are near your home and work place.
C. FIRE SAFFTY
  1. Set fireproof equipment and portable fire extinguisher on hand in the house and know how to use it.
  2. Check gas and trun off unnecessary electricity before you sleep or get away form home. Develop an escape plan for your residence, and test it. Have a meeting place away from your house.
  3. Once you are out of the house, go immediately to your meeting place. Once your are out, stay out. Never return to a burning building.
  4. REMEMBER- Your first concern is getting the family out and calling the fire department.
  5. Avoid fault electrical wiring, lighting equipment, and carelessness with cooking and heating appliances.
  6. When in public building, always know where the fire exits are. Never use elevators in an emergency, if the power goes out you could be stuck.
D. VEHICLE SECURITY
  1. Keep your vehicle in good working order and your gas tank at least half full all times.
  2. Keep all doors locked to your vehicle. This includes when you are driving your vehicle or when it is parked.
  3. Always try to park your car in a secure area. If you have a garage or fenced area to park your car, park it there as opposed to on the street.
  4. When parking your car, do not leave packages or empty shopping bags in sight.
